Strong alternative to Samsung and Xiaomi: Asus built it
If you’re looking for a new Android smartphone but don’t fancy a Samsung or Xiaomi phone, then the Asus Zenfone 9 might be something for you. The relatively compact smartphone is extremely powerful, offers a special camera and is not too expensive. But then there is a disadvantage.
Asus Zenfone 9: Compact high-end smartphone
There are hardly any compact high-end smartphones anymore. Asus wants to change that and, with the Zenfone 9, has introduced a mobile phone that with its 5.9-inch display is not too big and can be easily operated with one hand. Despite the compact dimensions and the light weight of only 169 grams, it contains high-end hardware. A Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is used, which is supported by up to 16 GB RAM and 256 GB internal memory. The cooling should be particularly effective, so that the maximum performance can be accessed over a long period of time.
The Asus Zenfone 9 becomes one Price from 800 euros sold, which is cheaper than a Samsung Galaxy S22 or Xiaomi 12. Nevertheless, the cell phone is waterproof according to IP68 and can score with a special gimbal camera that, like action cameras, offers strong image stabilization. The battery has a capacity of 4,300 mAh, which is acceptable given the size. However, it can only be recharged with a maximum of 30 watts per cable. It doesn’t work wirelessly.

Asus Zenfone 9: Short update guarantee
The biggest downside of the Asus Zenfone 9 is the software updates. That Smartphone is only supported for two years. For comparison: Samsung distributes updates for five years, Google for four years. Asus’ range of services is far too limited. Once the warranty expires, there will be no more updates. We really hope Asus reconsiders its update policy. Otherwise, the Zenfone 9 is a really strong smartphone and a good alternative to the big manufacturers like Samsung and Xiaomi. The market launch of the Asus Zenfone 9 will take place on August 12, 2022.
