Sponsored – Influencer Ajla: ‘My children give away a lot of toys to children who are less fortunate’
One person likes princesses and soft tones, the other prefers a leopard print and a colorful collection of colors: it sometimes turns out to be quite a challenge to have two completely different daughters. Yet influencer and entrepreneur Ajla . finds van der Wal-Draganovic it is important that they can always be themselves.
“Of course, when Nika (7) and Nova (6) pull something out, I sometimes think: ‘Jémig, what are you wearing now?’, but I don’t intervene. They have to be able to develop their own personality, and that includes choosing their own style.”
Their own fantasy world
Especially when playing with their dolls, Ajla notices that her daughters are so different. “Nika goes for the princess types with long, blond hair. Nova, on the other hand, opts for eccentric dolls with colored hairstyles. You see them completely disappear into their own fantasy world – wonderful.”
diva
In addition, Ajla likes to see that, despite the fact that their characters are so different, they are so good with each other. “Nika is very calm, sweet and caring. She looks the cat out of the tree, thinks a lot about others and has a steady group of friends. Nova, on the other hand, is our real diva. She stands her ground, prefers to associate with older girls and can often push her way through. You would think this would sometimes cause disagreements, but they are wonderful sisters to each other. They complement each other with their differences.”
Toys
However, Ajla’s daughters do have one thing in common: from an early age they want to help children who are less fortunate than them – something Ajla finds very important. “My kids have a lot of toys, so when they get something new, I want them to give away something old first. Every once in a while we walk past all the toys and put them in boxes they no longer play with. And admittedly, she’s doing very well. Recently Nika even came by herself with a backpack: ‘Mama, I want to give this one away too!’ They easily part with things if they know they will end up right.”
“Have they been naughty?”
Also during the holidays, Ajla tries to tell her children that gifts are not obvious. “’Have they been naughty?’, they ask when I tell them that not all children get something in their shoe. ‘No’, I say. ‘Some moms and dads have less money and can’t help Sinterklaas properly’. They are then immediately with their old toys at the ready. And that makes me a proud mother.”
