Spider-Man won’t bring any Vortex story missions to the Avengers
The editors of IGN magazine bring the first impressions of the addition to Marvel’s Avengers, through which the list of playable heroes will be expanded by Spider-Man at the end of November. So, assuming you play the game on a PlayStation, since it’s an exclusive DLC that has been promised to Sony console players for a very long time. But if you thought that’s why the people at Crystal Dynamics are careful and caring as much as possible, your expectations wouldn’t meet reality. One of the most burning pieces of the quoted preview is the fact that Spider-Man: With Great Power – as the addition is officially called – does not bring any story missions at all, and any new story is told only through audio recordings, which players reach by meeting the challenges of classic multiplayer. games.
“Instead of a short campaign with custom missions, the story is told through audio recordings and illustrated scenes that are unlocked by tasks added to regular multiplayer missions in the Avengers Initiative,” IGN said in a preview. It also brings an explanation from the game director Philippe Therien – the developers wanted to put as much effort into the content that all players can enjoy, so they decided to put more energy into the Klaw raid, which will be available on the same date. “It simply came to our notice then. Spider-Man could come up with all the content, but there are things for all platforms, so we made that decision from the beginning, ”says Therien. Interestingly, however, developers – for whom maximum transparency towards fans is desirable in a given constellation – have never informed this decision in advance, and insidiously IGN editors had to reveal it now…
In the video, which is part of the preview, however, IGN confirms that Spider-Man comes with its own set of animations for movement, including the use of cobwebs to quickly move through the locations of the missions, but you can’t get too high due to the low invisible barrier. The combat system focuses on quick dodges and agile melee attacks, which, according to IGN, should be reminiscent of Black Panther control. In some places, however, the game is very reminiscent of Insomniac Games – although it lacks typical fluency – and the magazine’s editors praise Spider-Man’s processing. She also likes the number of suits that Peter Parker can wear – there are about 40 of them and they map a large part of comic book history well. This corresponds to some special attacks, such as wrecking ball, which is a massive cluster of cobwebs sent against the enemy. It’s a pity that, according to IGN, aiming doesn’t work very well and this special often misses its target without making a mistake on the part of the player.
Spider-Man: With Great Power, will arrive free of charge on PS4 and PS5 versions on November 30th.
