Sony is developing a mobile phone that many want – but hardly anyone buys
Sony will soon introduce new smartphones. The Japanese company is already advertising for it and once again confirms that it basically fulfills all the wishes of potential customers. Nevertheless, the Xperia 1 IV will hardly sell – like its predecessors.
Sony Xperia 1 IV: First teaser videos released
With the Sony Xperia 1 IV, another strong Android smartphone is in the starting blocks. The Japanese company has published some teaser videos on YouTube, revealing the orientation of the smartphone. That Xperia 1 IV is therefore aimed at music and content creators and gamers. The last point is fulfilled simply by installing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and using a 120 Hz display. According to Sony, the jack connection is the most important selling point for musicians and content creators want a good camera.
And although the Sony Xperia 1 IV will basically offer everything that many people want, the smartphone will probably only go to real Sony fans again. And according to the latest business figures, there are not that many of them anymore. Sony continues to install a jack socket, you can expand the memory, has no hole in the display and so on. Basically everything that many fans of Samsung and Apple complain about – but then still buy the cell phones diligently.

Sony is getting in its own way
Sony’s biggest problem is likely to be Sony itself. Even if that Xperia 1 IV will be officially presented on May 11, 2022, you will probably not be able to buy it for months. Sony usually needs half a year to bring an announced mobile phone onto the market. The hardware is always great and corresponds to the current standard, but the software in particular is usually a problem. This is especially true for the camera. The photos aren’t bad, but they don’t match what a high-end camera in the price segment of well over 1,000 euros has to offer.
If Sony doesn’t finally address all the problems that have existed for years, then the sales figures will not improve either. The elimination of Huawei would give you so many options.
