Smartphones put us to sleep. It is harmful to our health

Hand on heart. Who of us does not play on a mobile phone before bed, does not watch series and videos or surf the Internet or social networks. It is this bad habit that shortens the time that is set for sleep, which does not have a positive effect on our health. The Forbes internet portal came up with interesting information.

Postponing sleep is not good. The reason is often smartphones

In English, this bad habit is usually called “revenge sleep procrastination”. It can be translated simply as “delayed sleep”. Instead of people resting and sleeping long enough, they consume content from a smartphone before going to bed. We don’t even have to realize it, but we are preparing for valuable minutes to hours of sleep, which can deprive us of energy during the next day.

With the advent of the coronavirus pandemic, the situation reportedly worsened. As we communicate virtually and the digital world has become an even more common part of our lives, up to forty percent of the world’s people have suffered from significant sleep problems. On the other hand, it is definitely worth mentioning that phones are not the only cause of delaying sleep. Other seemingly harmless hobbies, such as reading books and the like, can also reduce the time spent sleeping.

Poor sleep can cause some health problems

So why do we devote time to similar activities at night, during which we were to sleep? At night we simply have peace and no one disturbs us. By the way, lack of sleep risks not only fatigue during the day, but also higher blood pressure, obesity or depression.

The solution to ending the night sounds simple, but it is really difficult. Determine how many parts of the series you will watch before going to bed and say hard that the next part will be waiting for you later. The “Marathon” series before bedtime is definitely not a great idea. Rest during the day may also be appropriate.
