Signal has new features: Stickers, backgrounds and more

The Signal and Telegram chat applications are experiencing a huge increase in new users after WhatsApp has modified its terms of use. But these newly acquired users quickly noticed the limited set of features that Signal offers. In order not to lose these users, Signal quickly added to the application the basic features that its competitors have been offering for years.

The following Signal features are available in beta v5.3.1, which is slowly reaching the Google Play store, according to AndroidPolice. You can get it by joining the official beta program of the application and waiting for an update, or by downloading it from third-party stores.

Ability to change platoon background

Previously, Signal users had a choice of only two backgrounds – white for a light theme and black for a dark theme. With the new version of the application, they already have a choice of several colors and will be able to set the background separately for each platoon.

Users have a choice of 12 colors and 9 gradients. It is also possible to upload your own photo to the application. You will then see a preview of what the new background will look like.

Animated stickers

Signal doesn’t offer many sticker packages by default, but the company decided to add one new animated one called “Day by Day”. It installs automatically and contains 24 animated stickers that show a number of basic emotions or activities (waking up, kissing, listening to music, thumbs up, etc.).

User section

The signal also now gives users the ability to write a few words about themselves in their profile. This feature has been available in the WhatsApp and Telegram applications (and various other chat applications) for years.

It’s easy, you choose the emoji that describes you and then write a short description about yourself, which your contacts will see when you open your profile. You can also save several of these descriptions and then switch between them according to your mood.

Our tip

WhatsApp has extended the deadline to agree to the new terms. Is it responding to Signal?
