SFR RED is the king for price increases on packages
60 Millions de consommateurs has looked into the case of price increases on mobile plans and it is SFR RED which comes in first place. The operator is the one who increases its prices the most when the customers have not asked for anything.
SFR is the worst operator for price increases
According to the survey, these unsolicited price changes affected 27% of customers with fixed offers and 31% with mobile plans, and this during 2021. The most frequent increases are therefore at SFR RED: 63% of subscribers say they have suffered one. The rate is 45% for SFR and 40% for Bouygues Telecom. Suffice to say that it is not glorious.
What about Orange and Free Mobile? The incumbent has already tried hikes, but quickly stopped. As for Xavier Niel’s operator, he did not use this type of practice.
Usually, operators send an e-mail or letter to let the subscriber know that their plan will increase. The price increase, which quite often concerns plans without commitment, is generally 3 € / month or 5 € / month additional. The operators are trying to pass the pill by increasing the Internet quota.
The real problem here is that it is not always easy to refuse this price increase. Operators do this on purpose so that customers do not go back to the original offer. It turns out that this practice is legal.
In view of the situation with tariffs, 60 million consumers have awarded SFR the Cactus d’Or for the worst practice.
