Several Google apps will soon stop working on uncertified Android devices

Android devices that are not certified may experience problems in the future. Several Google apps will stop working from that point on. In any case, it concerns Google Messages and Duo. This can cause problems with Huawei devices, among other things.

Uncertified Android devices

In the latest version of Google Messages, also known as the Messages app, the code reveals that a change is imminent for several Google apps. As of March 31, various Google apps will no longer work on devices that are not officially Android certified.

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is equipped with Huawei Mobile Services

These are devices that run on Android, but have not (successfully) passed the Google certification process for Google Mobile Services. Consider, for example, the new Android smartphones from Huawei, which are equipped with its own Huawei Mobile Services, but not with the Google Mobile Services. Devices with unofficial modified software are also mentioned, as are devices with an unlocked bootloader.

For the time being it seems to be at least two applications from Google, communication apps in this case; Google Duo and Google Messages. It is expected that Google will notify users with an uncertified device by means of a notification in the coming weeks.
