Segway kit to turn your hoverboard into a tank!

Hoverboards, yes they are still made. And Segway has now created a super brutal kit. This one will turn your boring hoverboard into a tank.

Hoverboards have become less popular. You see more and more youth moving on electric scooters, instead of these boards. Ninebot, the company that bought the Segway brand, continues to make crazy add-ons for the self-balancing devices, including a new ride-on that turns them into a tank. And this one really fires.

Ninebot has previously attempted to make the devices more attractive. In 2018, the company made an add-on kit that turned the Segway miniPro into a go-kart-like device, complete with a handlebar and foot pedals for braking and acceleration.

For 2021, the company has come up with an even better way to terrorize your neighborhood with the Ninebot Mecha Kit. Mecha is a term usually reserved for armored robots, controlled by a human inside. Rather than the rider having to lean their body forward and back to stop and go, the Ninebot Mecha Kit includes a pair of joysticks that are used together to steer the vehicle around. The sticks also only work when they detect being held, so if bumped when someone clumsily climbs in and out of the vehicle, it won’t suddenly accelerate.

You can also shoot. With a pair of blasters that fire small water-saturated beads. And while they’re much softer than paintballs, it’s doubtful anyone really wants to get hit with them. In the promotional video and photos, everyone is wearing goggles, which seems to be a silent hint. You can also wirelessly connect the device to a smartphone app and control it from afar like an RC toy.

In America, the kit costs around $500. The Dutch legislator will probably have some problems with these adjustments. Small chance that we will see them here on the (public) road.
