Samsung supports many more smartphones with S-Pen

With the S-Pen for Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, the tech brand is launching a new wind for the stylus. And they seem to be extending that to other devices.

For the first time, Samsung supports a smartphone other than the Note with the Galaxy S21 generation S-Pen. The Galaxy S21 Ultra is the first with that functionality. But certainly not the last, according to a statement to SamMobile. The integration of the stylus in the S21 Ultra opens the doors for general support on all Samsung devices.

Samsung gives all their smartphones S-Pen support?

With the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Samsung is introducing a new era for the S-Pen. The South Korean tech brand is launching a separate stylus for that device. In fact, there will be two versions; a regular S-Pen and a Pro model.

That’s because the connection of the S21 Ultra works slightly differently than with the Note series. The S21 Ultra can be paired with all Wacom compatible styluses. In principle, that does not make it possible to do Air Actions via Bluetooth. The Pro version, on the other hand, can.

That opens the door for more Samsung smartphones with stylus support. The brand is also open to this:

We are committed to innovating mobile experiences that merge seamlessly to make our customers’ lives easier and better. We’ve made the bold decision to extend the S-Pen experience to the Galaxy S21 Ultra and plan to expand that experience to other device categories in the future.

It is not clear which categories these are exactly, but rumors, for example, already point to the next Galaxy Fold. There too, you will not get an S-Pen ‘for free’, you have to purchase it separately. Who knows that Samsung will provide their entire S-line with S-Pen support in the future. Or how about midrangers ?!

Anyway, for the time being it will remain with Note devices and the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
