Launch on February 1

Due to a blunder or probably a subtle PR strategy, Samsung’s Colombian website briefly stated that a Galaxy event will take place on February 1. This message disappeared shortly afterwards.

Samsung fans are therefore guessing that the presentation of the Samsung S23 will probably take place on February 1. After all, that’s Samsung’s flagship. This attracts the most attention and gives the large-scale event a good reason. In the meantime, Samsung has indeed confirmed that it is an event on February 1.

Most important news about the Samsung S23

Competition from arch-rival Apple and competitors such as Google Pixel and Chinese brands such as Xiaomi is getting fiercer. In the meantime, the first screenshots have been leaked, to prevent hassle around copywright, above a screenshot of @UniverseIce with an image of the Samsung S23 Ultra on it. The five camera lenses and the flat screen stand out.

Little seems to have changed in appearance compared to the predecessor S22 Ultra. Spectacular news is that if you preorder the Samsung S23, you will receive the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro for free. A gift worth more than €200. This news comes from one of Samsung’s retailers, who also reported that the pre-order period will take place from February 1 to February 8. This also corresponds to the expected launch date. So probably the February 1 rumor is correct.

If you reserve your spot for the preorder before February 1, Samsung promises that you will receive another € 50 discount on the price. That is of course attractive for a diehard Samsung fan.

It is known through a Korean good that the Samsung S23 will be around 10-20% more expensive than the S22 last year.

200 megapixel camera

The screen will become flat, because the curved screen is very difficult to operate with the S Pen. The 23 will also be slightly thicker than the predecessor, which according to experts points to a thicker decorative ring around the lens. This in turn could, just maybe, point to a zoom lens.

The most spectacular change is the doubling of the number of pixels of the main camera, to 200 megapixels. The sensor behind the camera is also likely to be greatly improved, making this the camera phone of 2023. Even Apple is being put in the shade by this.

Snapdragon also to Europe?

Connoisseurs expect that this flagship will be equipped with the latest Snapdragon chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Where the Koreans used to opt for their own Exynos chip, now every device for the European market will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This is according to announcements from the maker of SnapDragon, Qualcomm. A large computing power is also necessary for this great leap forward, in terms of cameras.

Satellite communications, and faster memory

Just like the iPhone 14 of major competitor Apple, the Samsung Galaxy S23 will also be equipped with satellite communication. This allows you to send an emergency signal anywhere in the world. That will come down to a text message and low resolution images.

The amount of RAM remains the same at 8 GB, although the Ultra will be equipped with 12 GB. However, this RAM memory will be of the much faster LPDDR5X standard. That includes a decent storage of 256 GB for the three more extensive versions (with the option for 512 GB and 1 TB). The base model will hold 128 GB.

The charging speed unfortunately remains the same, at 25-45 watts.

Samsung S23 leap forward again, after disappointing S22

In short, if we are to believe the Samsung S23 rumors, we finally get another Samsung that beats the competition. Are you a Samsung fan and did you miss the S22 because it differs little from the predecessor? Now is a good time to buy a new one.
