Samsung presents new Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

During Samsung Galaxy Unpacked August 2022 it was time for four new products from Samsung. We already saw the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4; the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are added to that. We’ve listed everything you need to know.

Galaxy Watch 5

Finally, there he is; the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, after we also saw the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 this afternoon. The manufacturer has taken the curtain off the new smartwatches. The new Galaxy Watch comes in two versions; one with a 40 millimeter clock case and a model with a 44 millimeter dial. Then there’s the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, which, like the 44mm model, has a 1.36-inch screen.

We start right away with the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, because although Samsung has provided that watch with the same screen, there is some difference, because the size of this model is 45 millimeters. The housing is made of titanium and offers more space in the watch itself. This results in a 590 mAh battery. Furthermore, the Watch 5 Pro has the Route Target Workout that allows you to share your walk and discover new areas; this also applies to cycling and walking routes.

Then there’s the Galaxy Watch 5 40mm. This model will have a 1.19 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 396 x 396 pixels. Compared to its predecessor, the battery is slightly larger and has a capacity of 284 mAh. The 44mm model has a 1.36-inch screen with a resolution of 450 x 450 pixels. Here too we see a larger battery capacity of 410 mAh. The three watches are equipped with a 10W charging, and have an Exynos W920 chipset on board.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series should help people to gain even more insight into healthy living. There are the necessary sensors for this. The BioActive Sensor combines the Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart signal and Bioelectrical Impendance Analysis sensors. This should provide even more accurate results in terms of oxygen levels, your heart rate and stress level.

In addition, the Watch 5 offers insight into your blood pressure and ECG3. Of course it is also possible to monitor your sleep and there is a sleep coaching program that guides you for a month in working towards improving your sleep. There is also the Google Assistant with Spotify integration and with the SmartThings integration you can, for example, turn the TV, air conditioning or lighting on or off.

The Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are available for pre-order and will hit stores on August 26. The Galaxy Watch 5 costs 299 euros; 349 euros for the LTE model, 329 euros for the 44mm model and 379 euros for the largest model with LTE. For the Pro you pay 469 euros, or if you want it with 4G 519 euros.

Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

The new set of earbuds is also official: the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. This new model has several improvements. The design is almost completely matte and there are 10mm drivers. Multiple microphones have been placed for optimal noise suppression and the best voice. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are equipped with intelligent active noise cancellation, 360-degree audio and can handle Bluetooth 5.3.

For the best sound quality, Samsung’s earbuds also feature HD voice recording and are water resistant thanks to IPX7 certification. With one battery charge you can do 29 hours (with the charging case) and there is a playback time of 8 hours for the earbuds themselves. The case can be charged both wirelessly and via the USB-C connection. In addition, you can use 24-bit HiFi Audio and switch to the sound of your smartphone with a simple touch. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro costs 229 euros and is available in Graphite, White and Bora Purple. These are for sale from today.
