Samsung is preparing a Galaxy Watch smart watch with the Wear OS system
It’s been a long seven years since the release of the Samsung Gear Live smart watch, which had the Wear OS system in it. The Korean company then switched to its own Tizen OS, with which it is doing very well. The Samsung watch is one of the best things you can get if you have an Android phone. But that may soon change. There is more and more information that Samsung is preparing a Galaxy Watch smart watch with the Wear OS system.
Will Samsung return to Wear OS after years?
The possibility of using Wear OS was first mentioned last month by Ice Universe, which regularly brings information from behind the scenes of Korean society. Now the XDA server has appeared in the source code of the Galaxy S20 kernel mentions of equipment coded Merlot, for which several mentions of the Wear OS system were discovered. Unfortunately, these are the only two pieces of information currently available.
Elsewhere in the source, MERLOT is mentioned alongside other Samsung devices that use Broadcom chips, including A7LTE (Tab A7 LTE) and NOBLESSE (Galaxy Watch 3). There are no relevant hits for MERLOT in the latest One UI 3.1 firmware, sadly.

We can only speculate whether Samsung will stay with Tizen and offer an alternative version of the watch with Wear OS, or will immediately switch completely to the system from Google. You can expect Samsungwatches with Wear OS will have a superstructure similar to what we could see, for example, with the recent Xiaomi watch with Wear OS.
