In 2021, Samsung will flood the market with new foldable smartphones. According to information from our Dutch colleagues at Galaxy Club, this affordable clamshell smartphone would be called Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung having already launched 2 Z Flip smartphones in 2020: a Z Flip 4G and a Z Flip 5G. A Snapdragon 855+ SoC for the Galaxy Z Flip 3?

The media was indeed able to get hold of the model number of the Z Flip 3 : SM-F720F. The absence of “B” at the end of the number indicates that the smartphone will have to be satisfied with 4G LTE connectivity. De facto, Samsung would rely on a chipset that is not compatible with 5G, such as the Snapdragon 855 Plus. The SoC is already powering the first Galaxy Z Flip 4G only.

Everything suggests that Samsung has decided to make the Galaxy Z Flip 3 one of the first mid-range foldable smartphones in its catalog. By opting for an old-generation SoC, Samsung will be able to lower the selling price of the device below the 1000 euros mark.
