Samsung Galaxy SmartTag helps find stuff

The idea has been around for a long time, but now Samsung also has a product called Galaxy SmartTag to find lost items.

Tile, who doesn’t know it. This American company has come up with all kinds of products that help to find lost items. We already made a review about Tile’s Bluetooth trackers. Now Samsung is also getting into that boat with the Galaxy SmartTag.

What Samsung has as an advantage is that of course the brand name Samsung sounds a lot more famous than Tile. The latter must mainly rely on gadget enthusiasts who have known the brand for years. With the average consumer, however, a light will light up faster at Samsung than with Tile.

Samsung Galaxy SmartTag

The new Samsung SmartTag is linked to the brand’s SmartThings app. They will cost 29 euros. In a short step-by-step plan, Samsung describes how to link the product to the app.

  • You open the ‘SmartThings’ app on your Samsung Galaxy S21 series 5G and press the button to activate your ‘Galaxy SmartTag’
  • Your SmartTag will make a sound and on the Galaxy S21 a pop-up will appear in the app
  • Select ‘Add now’ and you are ready to go

Even when the Galaxy SmartTag is offline, the product still sends a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) signal. The user data in SmartThings Find is encrypted. That means you don’t have to worry about your privacy.
