Samsung Galaxy S21 FE announced: a slim S21, but the price is not
After various leaks and rumors, Samsung formalized the Galaxy S21 FE, a new smartphone. We could speak of a lighter Galaxy S21. But the price is quite high in view of the competition. Also, the Galaxy S22 will be announced in a few weeks and the base Galaxy S21 will naturally drop in price. Didn’t Samsung launch its FE model too late?
Introducing the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
The Galaxy S21 FE is entitled to a Dynamic AMOLED X2 screen (as indicated by Samsung) with a size of 6.4 inches and a definition of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The display rate is 120Hz. In comparison, the Galaxy S21 has a 6.2-inch screen.
Under the hood, the new smartphone has the Snapdragon 888 chip on board, which gives it good overall performance. The chip is accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM depending on the configuration chosen. On the storage side, Samsung offers 128 or 256 GB. There is no slot for microSD here, therefore impossible to expand the storage.
The battery offered here is 4,500 mAh, which is better than that of the Galaxy S21. Samsung says the new phone supports wired charging up to 25W and wireless charging up to 15W.
Another important point for many people is the photo. The Galaxy S21 FE has three photo sensors on the back: 12-megapixel (f / 1.8) main sensor, 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor (f / 2.2) and 8-megapixel telephoto (f / 2.4) with a optical zoom x3. At the front, there is a 32 megapixel photo sensor (f / 2.2).

In addition, the fingerprint sensor is always located below the screen. But there is a notable change: this time it is an optical sensor and no longer an ultrasonic sensor. Ultrasonic models are said to be better.
For the rest, we find support for 5G, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, stereo speakers (support for Dolby Atmos) and water resistance (IP68). The weight is 177 grams and the dimensions are 74.5 x 155.7 x 7.9 mm.
Pricing and availability
Samsung offers the Galaxy S21 FE in four colors: white, black, olive and lavender. The model with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage costs 759 euros. It’s 829 euros for the model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The smartphone is available today for purchase.
From January 4 to February 8, buyers of a Galaxy S21 FE will also be offered a pair of Galaxy Buds 2 headphones, as part of an introductory offer put in place by Samsung. In addition, the purchase of this smartphone gives the right to 4 months of free access to YouTube Premium and 2 months to Adobe Lightroom.
