Samsung Galaxy Fold receives Android 11 with One UI 3.0

The first folding smartphone with a flexible display Samsung Galaxy Fold was not the happiest entry for this market for the South Korean producer. Due to a problem with the display, its launch in 2019 was postponed by half a year. According to the portal SamMobile but on him Samsung has not betrayed and these days brings him an update with the system Android 11 and superstructure One UI 3.0.

Updates are already in Europe, some markets will wait until February

The update is currently available as an OTA update in France and the United Arab Emirates for the LTE version, and in England and Switzerland for the 5G version. It should reach other markets later. In some European markets, it should not be until February. The update number for the LTE version is F900FXXU4DUA1 a F907BXXU4DUA1 pre 5G variant.

The January security patch of the system should also be part of the update. In addition to the new features of Android 11, Galaxy Fold owners should also see the new One UI 3.0 graphics, which are adapted for a flexible display. What does Android 11 bring?

Manage conversations in one place. User conversations with friends and family in various applications can be viewed on the lock screen.

Screen recording. On-screen video recording is now supported directly in Android 11 and does not require a separate application.
Common control for all smart devices. Smart home appliances such as heating or lights can now be controlled via a single common interface. To access it, press and hold the power key.
Quick selection of audio output. You can now choose directly from the notification bar whether the sound should be played via the built-in speaker, Bluetooth or connected headphones via cable.
Voice control. Faster and easier access to applications thanks to intuitive voice commands without the need for an Internet connection.
Greater security. Further security and privacy updates are made automatically and directly from Google Play.
Easier authorization of applications. You can also add permissions to applications once. If you do not use the application for a long time, its permissions will be automatically revoked.

Samsung is active in the updates, but there is also competition

The South Korean company has been very active in updates to the new version of Android 11 in the last two months. Recently, she also received another folding smartphone with a flexible Samsung Galaxy Flip display. Of course, there was an update of last year’s flagship series Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20. But Samsung is also thinking about models from 2019. An example is the series of flagship smartphones Samsung Galaxy S10, which received an update in early January.

But there is also competition in the updates. Before the end of the year, the Taiwanese manufacturer Asus surprised with an update with Android 11 for the Asus Zenfone 6 model from 2019. OnePlus updated the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro models. They received the OxygenOS 11 built on the Android 11 system. Huawei again brought the EMUI 11 superstructure to the Huawei P40, P40 Pro and Mate 30 Pro models. Sony recently started updating its smartphones. This year’s Sony Xperia 1 II was the first to arrive.
