Samsung adjust update frequency for Galaxy A8, stop for A series 2017

The Samsung Galaxy A8 released in 2018 has been updated monthly with a new security update so far. It is now clear that this is going to change, Samsung announced. There will also be some changes for the 2017 Galaxy A series such as the A3 and A5.

Updates for Galaxy A8 (2018)

More than two weeks ago, the last update so far for the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) appeared. The smartphone has been updated every month with a new security patch so far. After three years, things are now going to change, the South Korean manufacturer has announced. From now on, there will be fewer updates for the device.

Where the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) has thus far been offered a new security update monthly, that frequency will be reduced to once per quarter. This can be seen in Samsung’s update schedule. The Galaxy A8 (2018) was one of the few devices that received a monthly update. There are only a handful of devices in that series that could count on an update so often.

That there is a security update for the Galaxy A8 (2018) once a quarter is fine. Many manufacturers don’t even make it to the three-year period of update support. In addition, the updates of the intermediate months are bundled in the quarterly updates and included in that update. An update to Android 11 will not be available for the A8.
