‘Routines you can start delayed after a command’

Google comes with a new possibility for routines, and Google is already testing them with a small group of users. After giving a command that activates the routine, you can have Google perform the action on a deferred basis. You choose how long that delay should last.

Deferred Routines

Last year, Google officially released the routines for Google Assistant in Dutch, and they help users to automate tasks in an easy way. For example, consider a “Hey Google Good morning” command for the Assistant. Google can then discuss the latest news in the morning, and then share your agenda items for that day and tell you how long it will take you to get to work.

There are already a lot of possibilities with routines, but Google has a new feature in mind: delayed start. This allows you to add a delayed time when setting up a routine, or the time between when you give the command and Google actually performs the action. The minimum time for the delay is 1 minute.

At the moment, the feature is only being tested with a small group of users, and a Reddit user from the United Kingdom already shares a screenshot. We don’t see the delayed launch on our phones yet in the Google Assistant settings, nor is it known when the feature will be available to everyone.

Smarthome Theme Week

In July we held the Smarthome Theme Week at Androidworld and then we paid special attention to routines for the Assistant. This article explains in detail what routines are and what you can do with them. We also share four handy routines that you’ll want to set up right away. What are your favorite routines and what do you think of the Delayed Start? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
