Roborock H7 in the test – powerful cordless vacuum cleaner with optional bag

Roborock H7 – design and functionality

Since the Roborock H7 comes with many individual parts, we go through them one by one to keep the article clear and to go into everything in more detail. It starts with the attachments, the charging station and finally the main unit itself. In advance you can definitely say that the Roborock H7 makes a really high-quality impression at first glance and is also relatively light at the same time. In addition, there is the typical Roborock color, which not only looks pretty good in real life, but also sets it apart from other cordless vacuum cleaners.

It starts with the motorized floor brush, which Roborock calls itself multi-purpose brush. There is a very good reason for this, but I’ll get into that in a moment. This is connected to the metal hose and is practically the attachment that you will use most often. The head is supported by two support wheels. The joint reacts quickly and reliably to changes in direction and gives the feeling of an arm extension when in use, which makes the suction process easier from an ergonomic point of view. Vacuuming under the sofa is also not a problem, as the head of the attachment can form a horizontal line with the hose.

An antistatic carbon fiber brush is already used, which can reach up to 4000 rpm with the help of a 50 W motor and a planetary gear. This is gentle on sensitive floors, but the enemy of every dust particle, every hair, pollen, air pollution and more on carpets. This works because everything between 10-40 μm (house dust mites) to 0.1-1 μm (air pollution) and of course anything larger than that can absorb. It even cleans carpets so thoroughly that it visibly sucks in dust even on a carpet that has already been vacuumed with another vacuum cleaner. This is partly due to the fact that a sensor in the attachment detects carpets and immediately increases the suction power and the rotational frequency of the brush in order to penetrate as deeply as possible. This is what Roborock calls Carpet Boost. If you want to clean the brush, you can simply remove it and even wash it.

Next up is the mini version: the motorized mini brush. This also has a fast rotating brush and can also be adjusted in angle to protect certain furniture or to reach various areas more easily. This attachment is used for upholstered furniture and other surfaces and not only sucks the dust out of the upholstery, but also effectively makes short work of mites.

Next we have the dust brush. This is used, for example, on sensitive flat surfaces. It is particularly suitable for precise vacuuming between shelves or for the workplace, for example, where you can vacuum gently on the keyboard, at the table, etc. This is definitely one of my most used essays.

You can also combine this with the flexible hose. This not only allows you to enter narrow areas more precisely, because the main unit does not obstruct you, but also does not have to lift the entire vacuum cleaner directly in higher places. This relieves the stress on arms and joints because you can work with two hands and do not have to make any unnatural movements.

The hose can of course also be combined with the last attachment. The crevice nozzle is particularly suitable for areas that are difficult to reach, for example between mattresses, spaces between sofas and similar places where it is particularly tight.

Everything you don’t need at the moment can simply be attached to the wall bracket and everything is in one place. New and above all one of my favorite features is that all attachments are magnetic and can therefore be easily and securely attached to the sides. The wall bracket can be easily attached to the wall with two holes and also serves as a charging station. The power supply unit can also be connected directly to the vacuum cleaner, but it is much more convenient to have a stationary charging station where you simply attach the Roborock H7 and where it starts to charge automatically. So it is immediately ready for the next suction process. But I would have really liked a stand, even if only optional, so that you have a good place for it without drilling or can place it somewhere else.

Roborock H7 – features, performance & battery

Finally, of course, we still have the heart of the Roborock H7. This is where the control system, the motor, the filter etc. are located. I will now go into the individual elements of these.

It starts with the control. Like other cordless vacuum cleaners, the Roborock H7 is activated by pressing the trigger. As long as this is held down, the motor is also active or the motor stops when you let go of the trigger. This is useful for saving energy, but even if you are sucking in something wrong or something else comes up, you can react immediately. However, there are also scenarios where this can be annoying, which is why there is a lock button on the side. If you activate the motor and click this button, you no longer need to hold the trigger down. A small but effective feature, which unfortunately is missing in many cordless vacuum cleaners.

As already mentioned, the Roborock H7 adapts automatically as soon as it detects carpeting and increases the suction power. You can also do this manually with a button that is easily accessible with your thumb, as shown in the picture. This allows you to switch between the three available modes. A power of up to 160 AW at 480 watts can be achieved here. 10 AW more than the H6.

Depending on how strong the power is set, the battery power changes. The maximum possible is a good 90 minutes in eco mode, 45 in medium mode and 10-15 minutes in max mode. In this one can also suck in screws or two euro pieces without problems, which is not recommended except for test purposes, but this way you know roughly what you can expect. In most cases, you stay in eco or medium mode. The latter should also be strong enough for mites, mold, or pollen. The Max mode is mostly only useful for carpets, to which the Roborock H7 also automatically changes. The Roborock H7 needs 2.5 hours to charge thanks to the fast charging feature. This makes it at least 1-1.5 hours faster than the H6. In terms of volume, the vacuum cleaner reaches up to 72 dB in max mode, which is relatively ok.

You get important information with the integrated OLED display. Here you can see the current performance status, the remaining battery life in percent or in minutes, whether the lock is active and you will also receive information if there are problems. For example, if something is blocked, the tank is full, etc.

The dust tank, which has a capacity of 0.4 liters, can be easily removed and is secured twice by a rotating mechanism on top and a button in front of the handle, so that you cannot accidentally do anything wrong. Overall, the tank and filter combination consists of four individual parts that can be completely washed and reused. The 5-stage HEPA filter system is supposed to remove 99.99% of dirt, allergens and even air pollution. Dust mites, animal hair, pollen, mold and even air pollution in the range between 0.1 and 1 μm are filtered by the Roborock H7.

For me, the attractive thing about a cordless vacuum cleaner is the simple emptying of the dust tank without a bag. Roborock has decided to offer optional bags for the Roborock H7, two of which are already included in the scope of delivery. In my opinion, you don’t necessarily have to, but it makes the vacuum cleaner look cleaner and hair doesn’t get caught in it. Sometimes it is also ugly to see insects accidentally sucked in, etc. It is an optional feature and something that no other cordless vacuum cleaner has done before. You can therefore decide for yourself whether you want to vacuum with or without a bag.

Roborock H7 – Price and availability

The Roborock H7 currently costs 399 euros, which is a good price compared to the cheaper and more expensive competition. The Roborock H7 is currently available online at Amazon, Geekbuying and Ebay, where it is also in stock. Experience has shown that Roborock products are usually available from other retailers such as Saturn and Media Markt at some point after the start of sales, but we currently have no information on whether something will happen in the near future.
