Renting a child-friendly holiday home: you should pay attention to this

If you are looking for a nice holiday home online, you will regularly come across the term ‘child-friendly’. But what requirements should such a child-friendly house actually meet? Keep these points in mind when you book an accommodation.

Vacation home

Whether the rented holiday home is located in the Netherlands or abroad: a number of things are important. First of all, pay attention to the number of bedrooms in the holiday home. A separate bedroom for the children is useful, because then they have room to retreat and you (hopefully) sleep a little better. Is there a cot available? Otherwise you have to bring your own. A high chair, a playpen and any children’s cutlery are also indispensable. In a multi-storey accommodation, you also pay attention to a stair gate. If you want to leave as much junk at home as possible, it is nice if there are also toys and games available. You can also select houses with a washing machine, if you really can’t live without it.

Surroundings

Are you renting a child-friendly holiday home in the middle of nowhere? Then you have to get to work to entertain everyone. If you go to a holiday park, there are often more children to play with. Please note: there is a good chance that your offspring will then be nowhere to be seen. A playing field with a swing or sandbox is nice to lose some energy and a good place to make friends.

Entertainment

A swimming pool is often number one when it comes to holiday homes. At a holiday park you share this with other families, but with a larger budget you can also opt for a house with a private pool. Make sure it is safe for children. For example, is there a fence or gate around the swimming pool? In the high season, most holiday parks also have an animation team, which is very pleasant for the children. Also pay attention to other facilities, such as a shop, restaurant, bar and possibly a babysitting service (thank us later).
