The developers from the Italian studio Milestone left all their car or motorcycle simulators in a drawer for a short time and set off into a crazy arcade with a Hot Wheels license. At first glance, this created a very unfettered and handsome title, which, among other things, attracts players to a dose of nostalgia. The Hot Wheels license guarantees the use not only of the popular plastic pieces of the resulting racetrack, but also, of course, a lot of cars processed with the acknowledged shortcomings of their plastic prototypes. Jumping into such an enticing game, supplemented by a track editor, is therefore really equal to nirvana in the first minutes, but as we gradually found out during the campaign and multiplayer, the durability of this experience is not very long.

The reason is the fact that Hot Wheels Unleashed offers only two types of races. The developers also failed to sell interesting dimension games where the tracks wind around, for example, chairs, couches, metal beams and other real-world objects. The speed of the races and the perspective of the camera do not allow the environment to be overestimated, so the centerpiece remains a plastic track and the only form of power-ups, which are accelerator belts or points. Although the Hot Wheels Unleashed offers a fun driving model, the variability between cars is small, due to just a handful of attributes, so in the end it contributes to the fact that in two or three hours you already know the game through and simply can no longer surprise you. Add to this the unbalanced artificial intelligence and the not very motivating way of lootboxes – even for the game currency without any microtransactions – a nice package with a not very satisfactory filling remains.
