Realme releases phone with 240W charging: full at lightning speed
We already have smartphones that you can charge with a power of 120W, but now Realme takes it a step further. You can charge the new Realme GT Neo 5 with a power of 240W. With this you hardly have to think when you charge the phone.
Realme with 240W charging
A new smartphone from Realme can charge at lightning speed. It is the first phone that can charge with a power of 240W. This is the maximum power that can be transferred via USB-C at the moment. Charging from 0 to 100 percent should be completed in less than ten minutes with the new Realme GT Neo 5.
For charging, Realme applies the Dart Charge charging technique. This is a technique that enables fast charging. Because Realme belongs to the same parent company as, for example, Oppo and OnePlus, which use SuperVOOC, it is (secretly) expected that OnePlus and Oppo devices with such a high charging power will eventually also be launched on the market. A special charger is really needed for 240W charging, because other chargers cannot handle this speed. For now, the Realme GT Neo 5 has only been announced for the Chinese market.
It is unknown whether Realme plans to market the Realme GT Neo 5 with 240W charging. That model also has a 4500 mAh battery. The Realme GT Neo 5 also appears in a 150W charging version. It has a 5000 mAh battery. On the back, the phone packs a 50MP camera along with an 8MP wide-angle and 2MP macro lens. The smartphone also has a luminous ring on the back that can light up with new notifications. It can also turn red if the battery percentage falls below twenty percent.
Realme informs that TUV Rheinland has issued a certificate. This states that the phone can be charged safely in this way. Realme says that after 1600 charges from 0 to 100, 80 percent of the capacity can be maintained. That’s four years with normal use.
