Really good only for Apple customers?
Two heavyweights in their respective industries have teamed up to make an e-bike out of competition: Porsche and the racing bike manufacturer Storck build electrically powered bicycles under the name Cyklær that are only really suitable for Apple customers.
Porsche and Storck: lightweight e-bike with finesse for iPhone users
If you are looking for an e-bike, you first and foremost pay attention to performance, the charging options of the battery, the quality of the drive and brakes as well as the weight are decisive. What the new e-bike can do digitally has so far been of secondary importance – but that will soon change with the Cyklær from Porsche and Storck (source: Cyklær).
Because the high-end e-bike comes equipped with connectivity, its own app and special digital features: For example, a front and rear camera are installed. The former is supposed to make an additional action cam superfluous for taking pictures while the latter Use the Cyklær app to turn your smartphone into a practical rearview mirror.
GPS tracking, navigation and over-the-air updates as with e-cars are also no problem, Cyklær e-bikes are permanently online. Overall, when it comes to connectivity features, iPhone owners have a clear advantage, because Cyklær’s e-bikes explicitly support Apple Health and Apple Music. Android users have to do without comparable features – as well as the charging station integrated in the frame, which can wirelessly charge iPhones with MagSafe.
Despite preferential treatment for Apple: That makes Cyklær E-Bikes interesting for others
For Apple users, the e-bike, which was created with the collaboration of Porsche Digital, is particularly interesting, but not only: Above all, it is not just the battery that is convincing, but also the entire electric drive can be removed. The two versions of the Cyklær bicycles can be converted into classic bicycles with a full carbon frame. This is made possible by the Fazua Ride 50 Aviation transmission.
The battery comes to 252 kWh, according to Cyklær sufficient for 120 km of electrically assisted driving. The electric motor starts pedaling with you at 55 Nm, beyond 25 km / h drivers shouldn’t feel any mechanical resistance, but the electric drive shouldn’t help you any further.

So far, the only drawback with the Cyklær models is the expected high price: You can order a gravel version or a city bike (E-Urban), three colors are available. Depending on whether you want mudguards and luggage racks and lights, you can save a little on the E-Gravel: Without it costs 6,999 euros. The versions “with street war” are available for 7,299 euros order now. Delivery will start in January 2022.
