PS5 vs. PS4 Pro: The ultimate speed test
The performance of the PS5 is way ahead of its predecessors. One of the reasons: Sony relies on a fast SSD instead of an HDD. Above all, PS5 titles should benefit from the new storage medium and load faster than ever before. And backward compatible PS4 titles? They should also benefit from the increased performance … shouldn’t they? We tested it.
Every gamer currently wants to call it their own: the PlayStation 5 from Sony.
But not everyone who wants one can get one. Even more than six months after the launch of the current generation of consoles, only a small number of those interested were allowed to put the money on the table and put their hands on the PS5.
Is there currently a PS5 available? We have put together a constantly updated list of dealers for you:
Production problems, high demand, scalpers … you should already be familiar with the current situation.
If you haven’t managed to grab one of the current consoles under the nail, you have to be content with the previous generation for better or worse.
But: is it really that bad? We haven’t seen quite a lot of PS5 exclusives yet and graphical updates for backward compatible games are still a long time coming.
There really is only one PS5 feature left that makes gamer hearts beat faster and should make PC gamers green with envy: the ultra-fast SSD. But how fast is the PS5’s SSD really – especially with PS4 titles?
And above all: can a PS4 Pro with an SSD somehow keep up?
After all, our comparison test had already shown how much a PS4 Pro can benefit from the upgrade to an SSD.
That’s exactly what we tested.
We measured and compared the loading times of Horizon Zero Dawn, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) and Cyberpunk 2077.
