Pro Display XDR: an Apple tool to calibrate the screen

Apple is making a tool available for download to calibrate the Pro Display XDR screen. This model saw the light of day a year ago and costs 5,499 euros. It’s a 32 inch 6K screen.

Regarding the tool for the calibration of Pro Display XDR, Apple indicates on its website the following note:

Each Pro Display XDR is factory calibrated with laboratory grade instruments. The Pro Display XDR Calibrator tool allows Pro Display XDR to be recalibrated on-site for workflows that may require custom calibration for specific colors. Recalibration with this utility requires one of the following spectroradiometers:

Photo Research SpectraScan PR-740, PR-745 or PR-788
Colorimetry Research CR-300

Apple took the opportunity to offer update 4.2.30 screen firmware. It just adds tool support for Pro Display XDR calibration. It also includes minor improvements for stability. Apple does not go into details on this.

If you have a Pro Display XDR and the tools to calibrate the screen, download the utility from Apple at this page. The utility is not heavy: it barely weighs 1.4 MB. Apple specifies that you must have a Mac running macOS Catalina 10.15.6 at least to use its tool.
