Prince of Persia Remake: no cancellation, but Ubisoft still postpones the release
Ubisoft is definitely struggling with the development of the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It is not canceled contrary to what some had initially thought, but there is indeed a new delay for the release.
New postponement for the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
It all started a few hours ago, when several people noticed that the game was no longer listed on various retailers. Some therefore thought that the title was simply cancelled. Ubisoft announces this evening that there is no cancellation, but there is on the other hand a new postponement.
“Development of the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal. We are proud of the work done by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team continues the work to deliver an excellent remake.”the studio told IGN. “As a result, we are no longer targeting a release for fiscal year 2023 and the game is no longer listed. If players wish to cancel their pre-order, they are encouraged to contact their retailer. They will be kept up to date with the project as development progresses.”adds the group.
The game was first announced in 2020. But it got a significant number of reviews because of the graphics which felt like a hell of a leap forward. The remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was originally due to be released in 2021. But the situation has evolved and it has had several postponements and here is a new one today. And as indicated above, it is now Ubisoft Montreal that takes care of the development and no longer the Indian studios. This is an opportunity to recall that Ubisoft Montreal is responsible for the original game released in 2003.
