Poly Network wants hackers as chief security advisor
The hacker alleged to have stolen $ 600 million worth of tokens from the Poly Network crypto platform is now invited to become the company’s chief security advisor.
The US company Poly Network, which specializes in cross-chain transactions of cryptocurrencies, was confronted with a $ 600 million hack last week – arguably the biggest theft in crypto history, certainly at a young age Defi sector. The blockchains of Ethereum, Binance and Polygon were affected. The person behind the hack who is “Mr. White Hat ”has meanwhile given back most of the money – there is now a special offer for this.

$ 500,000 and advisory posts
On the one hand, Poly Network promised the hacker a reward of $ 500,000 – if the money was returned in full. He is also invited to act as chief security advisor in the company in the future, like CNBC reports. The hacker is currently said to have $ 33 million from the hack. More than 200 million dollars have been transferred back, but are still in a secure account. Poly Network asked the hacker to hand over the password (private key) required for access.
By the way, the hacker initially refused the $ 500,000 reward. On Monday, however, a message about a return transfer said that he was considering taking the money after all – “as a bonus for hackers who manage to hack Poly Network”. The company said Tuesday that it would make a significant system upgrade to prevent such attacks from happening in the future. However, this can only happen when all the stolen money has been returned.
There is only money when everyone is ready
Probably also in order to actually get the money back in full, Poly Network officially assured that they do not intend to prosecute the hacker. It is still unclear who the hacker is. However, the Chinese cybersecurity company Slowmist had claimed on Medium that they had a suspect in their sights. The company has not yet revealed who it is. According to the hacker, the last installment should only be released when everyone is ready. What this means is not known.
