We don’t have to go far to answer this seemingly fantastic question. It is given to us by the Round8 Studio team, which is working on the title Lies of P. The action RPG is aimed at the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series and was inspired by the children’s novel Pinocchio’s Adventures by Italian writer Carlo Collodi. But forget about kind animators like the one from Disney or the cheerful Robert Benigni. The local Pinocchio is made of quite different dough.

In a game powered by Unreal Engine 4 technology from Epic Games, players take on Pinocchio himself. But you will travel a dark world inspired by the Belle Époque period. Humanity is lost and the once beautiful city of Krat has become a living hell. Your task is to find Geppet to find out what happened to you and the world around you. According to their own words, the authors have been toying with the idea of ​​a specific retelling of a famous story for some time. Lies of P is supposed to be the culmination of their dreams and nightmares. According to them, it is definitely a variation on a famous story that you have never seen before.

“For us, Pinocchio has always been a gloomy dark story full of the lies we tell in a world that is not always black and white. We can’t wait to show you more of the game in the coming months, ”says project manager Jiwon Choi. As Pinocchio, we will explore the streets of the ruined city, make weapons, and meet the few remaining people who have survived this hell. The more you lie, the more you become human. Otherwise, the authors entice us to rich crafting, meaningful story choices or detailed editing and development of the character. We have to fight strong opponents in a cruel world, which should be both elegant and full of horrors and tension. We come across interconnected quests that evolve as we lie, and these choices will ultimately affect how the story ends.

The system of abilities should also be non-traditional. Because Pinocchio is an artificial being, we can change parts of his body to gain new skills and an advantage in combat. However, not all improvements will be used in the event, the team warns. They can also provide other unique and useful benefits. The authors themselves say that they want to create a new type.

But do we really want it?

There’s no point in slipping into early ratings, but I can’t help it. The game looks really nice and its architecture could be really exceptional. In the coming months, we should see more details about the gameplay and characters. The title is published by NEOWIZ and, as already mentioned, is being developed by the Round8 Studio team. The authors of Bless Unleashed want to breathe life into a new brand. This will be their second game. About 60 people work on it and they are still recruiting others with the understanding that they would like to compete with the best titles in this genre.

Lies of P has not yet set a release date, although there have been mentions of 2023.
