You save this information in the MyData app
The MyData app from the Dutch is a place on your iPhone (or iPad) where you can store all your important information about you. You choose which information you want to open.
You have to think of things like the numbers on your ID, tax returns or your APK inspections. You can easily request and use this information from this app. If you don’t, it’s safely under lock and key. In fact, you will find all the formal details of your identity in the app. In any case, this information is all too available via the MijnOverheid website. So you only have to log in and do not provide any new information. Because: isn’t everything gradually turning into an app these days? In any case, you always have the information at hand!
Who can use MyData and is it safe?
As a Dutch citizen, if you have already turned 14, you can use the government’s new MijnData app. You do need the existing DigiD app for that. This must be on the same iPhone (or iPad) to log in. If you log in to this MyData app with your DigiD, the information will automatically appear on this app.
You also don’t have to worry about crooks getting away with your personal information. You can put passwords on it. You can also choose to unlock the app with Face ID or Touch ID. Those are Apple’s facial recognition and fingerprint scanner, respectively. These will only work if you are the one trying to open the app.

The Dutch government is flexible with MijnData
The government’s MyData app aims to make all bureaucratic matters easier. This way you can add information via the app itself. Do you think it’s important to get a notification on your iPhone so that you don’t forget to do your tax return? MyData is the solution. The same applies to, for example, the expiry date of your MOT, passport or driver’s license.
But the app doesn’t work unilaterally. The Dutch government can also message you via the app. Is there something missing in terms of information? Or is something written wrong? Then you will immediately receive a signal from the government with instructions on how you can best adjust this.
