Deeply cherished wish

My bedroom secret that I carried with me for years turned out not to be a deal breaker at all for my husband. Because once I expressed my cherished wish to him, it all happened very quickly.

The first nights were a bit awkward. Before we went to bed together, it was pretty obvious that something was in the air. Every night I enjoyed a little more, but I could see from my husband that he was only doing it to please me.

Was this all worth it?

At first I accepted that it was all about me in the bedroom and not just him, but soon a kind of guilt crept over me. And I noticed in him that his ‘sense’ became less.

I felt a distance between us. Was this all worth it?

Turn things around

Last week it was Valentine’s Day and I decided to change course, because alone is also only alone. Our four-month-old single duvets were given a new purpose: the children’s beds. The luxurious four seasons goose feather duvets were much appreciated by the kids and they were happy to say goodbye to their old Ikea blankets.

And my husband and I? Since then, we have been sleeping under our old double duvet again. Nice and close to each other.
