Overview of costs and subscriptions
With Amazon Music HD (formerly Unlimited), the online giant launched a serious competitor to Spotify at the end of 2016. For the full selection of over 75 million songs, however, you have to be ready to take out a subscription. Prime customers get the streaming service at a discount. We have summarized the various Amazon Music subscriptions and their costs for you here on GIGA.

Prime customers can access the 2 million songs in the Amazon Music Prime music library at any time. There is now even a free option with “Amazon Music Free”, but it is more like an online radio. Neither offer can keep up with the competition from Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer & Co. This is where the “Amazon Music HD” subscription (formerly Unlimited) comes into action, with over 75 million songs in CD quality (7 million of which also in lossless studio quality) can be streamed.
Costs & subscriptions for the music streaming service
Up until now, “Amazon Music HD” was an add-on for all “Unlimited” users who also want to stream their music in hi-fi quality. From now on, all “Unlimited” listeners can also take advantage of the “HD” subscription at no extra charge. This results in the following costs and functional differences between “Amazon Music Prime” and “Amazon Music HD”:

With the annual subscription you pay the equivalent of one month about 6.58 euros. This has existed since the beginning of December 2016 Family subscription, which offers the same features as the regular Music HD subscription, but from 6 members of a family can be used at the same time. The costs of the family subscription amount to 14.99 euros per month or alternatively (for Prime members) 149 euros a year – so downscaled: 12.42 euros in the month.
