OTP Bank application in the Huawei AppGallery store
For the sixth year in a row, the Smart banka survey once again brings a nationwide competition for the best banking applications in Slovakia. You can vote for your favorite banking applications from 19 January to 15 March 2021.
As part of the survey, we are preparing a series of articles that are intended to introduce readers to the individual functionalities of Slovak banking applications, on the basis of which you can decide which of them you will vote for. The Huawei AppGallery store also contains applications from all important Slovak banks. In this article, we will introduce the application in more detail OTP Bank.
Introduction of the application
An application with which you also have your finances under control on your Huawei smartphone. It offers all the necessary functions to be able to work fully with it. The basis is the possibility of displaying the balance on the accounts, receiving or sending money.
There is no possibility to create standing orders, direct debits or other recurring payments. You can activate or block the card in the application, or set its limits. You can see in it the history of account movements, your loans, contracts or the exchange rate list. There is also an ATM search function.

Why did you decide to publish your application in the Huawei AppGallery?
At the time we decided to support AppGallery, we had a 30% share of Android users of our app with Huawei devices, which is a very significant part. Without AppGallery support, we would run the risk of gradually losing some of these users.
What were your expectations from working with Huawei, what goals did you set? Are they being fulfilled?
Our priority was to keep clients of app users in order to avoid the situation that the bank’s application will not be compatible with the devices of one of the leading manufacturers. Expectations are gradually being met, as the number of Mobil banking users is not declining, but is growing at a similar pace as before.
What is the difference in publishing applications and communicating with Huawei compared to Google or Apple?
In terms of process, publishing applications is very similar. As AppGallery is very young, it sometimes suffers from longer responses, which, however, balances the speed of support and communication from the Slovak representation of Huawei.
How is the app in the AppGallery different from the one in Google Play?
We perceive the differences mainly on the part of the developer, as it was necessary to integrate Huawei services. The user does not notice any difference, from his point of view, the application is identical to the one on Google Play.
What functionalities of your application are still waiting to be launched in AppGallery and when will it be?
Our app in the AppGallery already offers exactly the same functionality as those in the AppStore and Google Play. Including authorization of card transactions via push notifications instead of SMS messages.
