Oppo lets you virtually expand the RAM itself; first for Oppo A91

Oppo has added a new feature to Android. With the RAM expansion function you can virtually expand the working memory. But how exactly does that work? In any case, it is now available for various devices.

RAM Expansion Function

Oppo presents a new RAM expansion function that allows you to further expand the working memory of your phone. According to the manufacturer, this ensures optimized performance, making switching between apps smoother. You do not have to open your phone for this function. This is because it is virtual, which means that you can use part of your internal ROM memory as working memory with the function. The effect will therefore be less than if your smartphone itself is supplied with more RAM.

After the update that is now being rolled out for various devices, users can go to the settings > info about phone. By clicking RAM you can choose to convert part of the internal memory into RAM. Once you’ve set this up, the phone will reboot.

Update

The update that brings the new RAM expansion function is now being rolled out to various devices. According to Oppo, it is immediately available for the Oppo Find X3 Lite, Oppo A74 (4G and 5G) and the Oppo A54 (5G). Roelf informs DroidApp that his Oppo A91 has already received the update, along with the June 2021 security update.
