OpenBoard is the keyboard that respects your privacy

OpenBoard is a keyboard that makes its code completely public and respects your privacy. A group of enthusiastic community members are developing new features for the keyboard.

OpenBoard keyboard

Those who attach great importance to safeguarding privacy on their devices should definitely take a look at OpenBoard. That is a keyboard that is not linked to large tech companies such as Google (Gboard) or Microsoft (SwiftKey). The app promises to respect user privacy, and proof of that can be found in OpenBoard’s code which can be found in its entirety on developer site GitHub.

OpenBoard contains the most important features of a keyboard. The app comes with a dictionary that supports multiple languages and there is automatic text correction and word predictions. You can also adjust the display of the keyboard from the app, but those who use a dark theme on their phone will already see a keyboard with gray tones by default.

Missing features

It is true that a number of popular functions are still missing. We are thinking, for example, of support for gifs and stickers. Although in principle you can also use it from messaging and social media apps themselves. OpenBoard, on the other hand, does have a gif keyboard. Another popular feature that doesn’t work yet is swype input support.

Various developers from the community are working on new functions for OpenBoard and users can also propose new functions themselves if they want to see these kinds of functionalities in the app. Are you going to try OpenBoard? Which keyboard are you currently using? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
