But bread-and-butter features such as a marketplace, more bots, more social media integration and virtual event locations via app are on the team’s wish list. Like all providers of virtualized cooperation solutions, Rocketchat is also benefiting from the corona crisis.
With the fresh $ 19 million Series A round, the company, based in Porto Alegre, Brazil, has acquired a total of $ 27 million in venture capital. Rocketchat has not disclosed a company value.
Rocketchat benefits greatly from the new world of work caused by Corona
The startup can now refer to 16 million registered users in 150 countries – eight million are active every month. Of the 16 million, more than 11 million have registered within the past six months.
The open source solution is currently installed on around 845,000 servers. More than 1,500 developers rely on the platform and expand it with their own solutions. Rocketchat is not only used by small and large companies, but also by the US military and various NGOs.
The particular advantage here is that Rocketchat not only offers team chats, but is also designed as an expandable platform that can map all forms of secure virtual communication. Rocketchat can be hosted on its own hardware. But it is also available as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) at prices starting at $ 0.
