OnePlus extends support for its models

A few days ago, OnePlus confirmed a new update policy for its devices. This applies to all models that have come out of the OnePlus 7 series, resp. 7 Dec. Flagships from series 8 and later will receive three system updates and up to 4 years of security patches. However, this does not apply to the Seven Board, which receives only two system updates and only three years of software updates, GSMAren mentions.

Good news for OnePlus Nord owners as well

They will receive three years of security updates, but the number of system updates will vary. Owners of numbered Nords (N10, N100, N200) will only receive one system update. Owners of more expensive Nords (Nord, Nord CE) will receive up to two system updates and three years of security patches.

GSMArena also mentions the fact that the Android 12 starts the connection of the OxygenOS code base and the ColorOS code from Oppo. It will mean gradual extinction, respectively. complete unification into one system?

Competition

We commend OnePlus for its approach, but Samsung is clearly the leader in the updates. He has promised up to 5 years of security updates for his latest flagships. However, it has a few hooks. Otherwise, it supports most models by default for 4 years and also gives 3 major system updates.

Of the big players, we have to criticize Xiaomi, who is still silent about her update policy. However, if we look at the older flagships, the Xiaomi Mi 8 has not received updates for some time. This is not the best approach when compared to OnePlus or Samsung.

Our tip

OnePlus will work more closely with the parent company Oppo
