OnePlus 6 and 6T receive an update on Android 11

Smartphone manufacturers will soon be forced to update their devices to the new Android 12, but in the meantime they can catch up with updates to last year’s Android 11. The three-year-old OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T smartphones also receive the latest update, according to the GSMArena portal.

OnePlus released the first beta version of the OxygenOS 11 superstructure for these two models, which is based on the Android 11 system, as early as the beginning of July. The phones subsequently received two more beta versions of the new system, one of which was introduced just a few days ago.

So far, only selected owners of the OnePlus 6 and 6T models have received the update

Today, both devices also receive a stable version of Android 11. However, as is the case with major updates, only a few users will receive a new version of the system at first. In this way, the manufacturer wants to make sure that the update does not contain any serious errors. It will reach other users later.

The device notifies you when an update is available. You can also check it manually in the system settings in the System and System Update sections.

What changes will Android 11 bring?

As this is a transition to a new version of the operating system, you can expect more changes. The update will bring, for example, a new user interface design, a number of improvements in the Game Space application, changes in the Camera application interface or a new type of watch for the ambient display. A shortcut for turning on dark mode will also be added to the quick settings panel, and you will be able to set it to turn on and off automatically in the settings according to the time.

How the competition updates

Other vendors are currently updating to Android 11. The parent company OPPO announced its August update plan, while the South Korean manufacturer Samsung updated its affordable Galaxy A10 model. The Nokia 5.3 smartphone was also recently updated to Android 11.
