New release date for Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+
Why a new release date of May 27 for Obi-Wan Kenobi ? There is no shared information on this. This slight postponement may come as a surprise since May 25, 2022 will correspond to the 45th anniversary of the American release of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, namely the first Star Wars movie. However, with the new date, the series will miss the anniversary. Moreover, it will be in direct competition with the first part of season 4 of Stranger Things on Netflix which will be released the same day.
But the “bad” news of the postponement is accompanied by good news. Indeed, May 27 will be the occasion to have not one but two episodes of the series. There will then be a new episode every Wednesday, knowing that there are six episodes in total. This is a mini-series, that is, there will be only one season.
Series Obi-Wan Kenobi will find his eponymous hero ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sithwhich saw the Jedi Master take refuge on the desert planet of Tatooine, both to hide from the Empire regime and to keep an eye on the young Luke Skywalker, namely the son of his former apprentice, who is other than Anakin Skywalker turned Darth Vader.
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is played by Hayden Christensen. He will be back in the series. Besides Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, the series will also introduce several new actors to the Star Wars universe, such as Kumail Nanjiani, Bennie Safdie, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Sung Kang. The series will also return Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru Lars.
