This moment has long been eagerly awaited, in a few days the time will come. How o2 just announced has, the 3G network in Germany switched off on July 1st. The whole process should be completed by the end of the year. Initially, 500 3G locations will be switched off on this key date. Two weeks later, it is the turn of another 1,000 locations. Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are initially affected. By the end of September 9,500 additional locations are to be reallocated. Then the cities of Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Essen and Düsseldorf as well as the states of Bavaria, Schleswig-Holstein, Saxony, Thuringia and the Saarland are affected. Finally, the last 4,500 3G locations in major cities such as Berlin, Hamburg and Leipzig are addressed, as well as all other remaining regions.

However, o2 does not just switch off 3G, but converts the systems to 4G. What should 3G customers now consider?
