Norwegian online supermarket expands delivery area

Berlin residents now have the opportunity to order groceries from the online supermarket Oda. The Norwegian company offers over 9,000 products and also supports local and regional producers.

From now on, Berliners should be able to do their entire weekly shopping online, Oda writes in his official announcement. This would save them around three hours a week, which they could just as easily spend with their loved ones, according to Oda manager Malte Nousch.

Customers can now choose from over 9,000 products, including regional and organic products. The range is also set to grow to up to 12,000 items in the coming months.

Since Oda is a purely online supermarket, the processes are designed to conserve resources and process orders efficiently, Nousch continues. “We achieve this through the targeted use of automation and optimized demand and delivery route planning.”

In addition, around a quarter of the suppliers are regional and local producers thanks to the shortened supply chains. The Norwegian company also wants to work with food start-ups in Berlin and throughout Germany in order to make vegan products available to customers in the online supermarket.

In addition, buyers have the opportunity to order products from the organic private label. At the request of many test users, Oda will be adding 20 typically Norwegian products to its range over the next few weeks.

In the first few days, Oda will operate in open test mode with slightly limited capacities and delivery times. Around 40 drivers then deliver the orders from the logistics location in Ragow Mittelwalde in Brandenburg from Monday to Saturday – initially between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. and later between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Oda supplies the entire Berlin city area

In the future, other German areas are to be supplied. Oda initially wants to focus on the area around Berlin and medium-sized cities within a 2.5-hour drive, which are to be supplied via smaller distribution centers.

First of all, Berliners receive their purchases the following day at the earliest. Later, the online supermarket also wants to offer same-day deliveries. Depending on the selected time window and order value, the delivery costs are between zero and 3.99 euros. In the first month, all deliveries from an order value of 40 euros are free for new customers.
