The Dutch government has announced that NL-Alert will be tested again this month. The government’s digital alarm device will be tested by means of a test message on June 7.

NL-Alert test message on June 7th

Next Monday, on 7 June, the government will test the NL-Alert alarm system again. This happens around 12 noon. NL-Alert is tested every six months by means of a test message and that will also be the case next Monday. When you receive the message, you know that your phone is set up correctly to receive an NL-Alert. In time, this system should replace the air-raid siren; that is tested every first Monday of the month. NL-Alert can be used in an emergency.

In principle, every telephone nowadays is set to receive an NL-Alert by default. Sometimes you may not receive a verification message. For example, because your phone radiates on the German or Belgian network, because you have no coverage, because the airplane mode was activated or because the phone was connected to an old 2G or 3G network.

The text in the NL-Alert test message is as follows;

“NL-Alert 07-06-2021 12:00: TEST MESSAGE. The government warns you during emergency situations via NL-Alert. You will then read what to do and where to find more information.
