New Windows computer is not intended for everyone
Microsoft has presented a new Windows computer, but it is not just for sale to everyone.
You have computers and you have computers. Microsoft has made a special Windows computer that is not aimed at consumers, but at developers. This is a mini PC that has an ARM architecture. The computer was made by Microsoft in collaboration with the American chip giant Qualcomm.
Computer exclusively for developers
Developers can purchase the computer from the Microsoft Store this summer. With the PC, app makers can develop and test applications with an ARM64 basis. However, it is not yet known what the Windows computer will cost.
The arrival of this computer is good news for the developers, because at the moment there is not really an alternative from Microsoft. The only alternative is to buy a Surface Pro X to test apps. Because this Windows 10 tablet is equipped with a Qualcomm ARM processor. But to buy a pricey Surface Pro X for this application (suggested retail price 1,449 euros) is of course overkill. In that respect, this Windows computer with ARM architecture will have to be a lot cheaper than the price tag of the Surface Pro X. Otherwise it is not an interesting purchase.
PCs and other devices with Windows 10 ARM are increasingly common. The downside is that hardware, game and app drivers will only work properly if designed for a PC with Windows 10 ARM. This new Windows computer will soon play an important role in this.
