New Samsung smartphones lack practical Android functionality

With the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra, Samsung is launching three new high-end smartphones on the market in a few days. It has now been announced that an Android function is missing again, which many mobile phone users would like. GIGA has the details for you.

Samsung Galaxy S21 does not support seamless Android updates

A few years ago, Google integrated a function into Android that enables the seamless installation of Android updates. Ultimately, new updates are installed in the background while the phone is in use. The next time you restart, you can seamlessly switch to the new version without having to wait for the installation, as has been the case before. Samsung has waived this function on the Galaxy S21 even after four years, reports SamMobile. So it still remains that you have to download the update and wait for the installation.

The biggest advantage of seamless Android updates is the significantly lower error rate. The update basically can’t go wrong. If that happens, you just stick with the older version. The disadvantage, however, is that this function eats up a lot of internal memory because you naturally install a second operating system that you basically never use. That’s why Samsung may have decided against seamless updates, as the smartphones would then be shipped with even less storage space. Cell phones are already missing many gigabytes when they are new. Now that the microSD slot is gone, the function should probably no longer be implemented.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 presented:

Which Android smartphones offer seamless updates?

The feature is actually used by some manufacturers, not just Google itself with the Pixel phones. Motorola, OnePlus and LG support this function. Unfortunately, all three manufacturers are not known for distributing updates really quickly, so the benefit of implementation simply fizzles out. But if Samsung were to integrate the function, that would be noticeable for many users.
