New open world game storms the charts

A new open world game is conquering Steam – even though the survival game has not even appeared yet. But what is it about Icarus that fascinates PC gamers so much that it’s already on the Steam charts?

Icarus: Survival game lands in the Steam top sellers

Icarus is only officially appearing on November 20, 2021, but the new open-world survival game from the RocketWerkz developer studio is already on seventh place of the Steam top seller to find (source: Steam).

In the official trailer you can see the first gameplay of the new survival game:

At first glance, Icarus almost looks like a modified version of Ark: Survival Evolved with nice graphics. Farming, crafting and exploring the game world are in the foreground. However, Icarus uses a special trick. The time you can spend on the eponymous planet is limited. You will only be sent to the surface for a short period of time to complete faction missions.

After the deadline, you have to return to your space station, where you can use your captured materials to create new equipment or unlock new skills. Should you not make it back in time, your character is lost forever.

The dangerous world of Icarus you can both alone and with up to 7 friends explore. During your stay, you can also build houses and equipment that will help you on your mission or offer shelter.

Why is the open-world game already a top seller on Steam?

The premise of the new open world game seems quite interesting. But why is Icarus already a top seller even though it won’t be released until November?

This is mainly due to the fact that the developers for pre-order access to the beta weekends to offer. So they can try out the game in advance. Every second weekend until the release, a new test phase with a new area is to be carried out. That alone should be enough incentive for many players to pre-order the game.

In addition, Icarus is currently 10 percent discounted. Instead of 24.99 euros, you currently only pay 22.49 euros – another purchase incentive. However, it remains to be seen whether the Icarus game concept will really bring a breath of fresh air to the survival genre.
