‘New iPad mini gets mini LED screen and Touch ID in the power button’
There have been rumors for some time that Apple is planning a new iPad mini. According to the latest rumor, Apple’s new small tablet will have a mini LED screen.

Rumor: iPad mini will have the same screen as the 12.9-inch iPad Pro
The new iPad mini will have a mini LED screen and will be on the market at the end of this year. This can be found in a secured report from DigiTimes. Compared to traditional LCD screens, mini LED technology offers advantages such as higher brightness, improved contrast and deeper blacks. We’ve seen this screen before on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which was announced earlier this year.
The report reads: “Radiant Optoelectronics will begin deliveries of its backlight units for the new MacBook Pro and iPad mini with mini LED displays in the third quarter. According to industry sources, shipments will increase in volume in the fourth quarter.”
There have been rumors for some time that Apple is planning a new iPad mini. The design of the tablet is undergoing a major overhaul. There is room for a larger 8.5-inch to 9-inch screen with slimmer bezels, Touch ID in the power button, a USB-C port and more.
Not the first time we’ve heard of an iPad mini with a mini LED screen
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned an iPad mini with a mini LED display before. According to him, the new tablet with a 7.9-inch screen would be on the market in 2020. This later turned out not to be true.
According to Mark Gurman and Debby Wue by Bloomberg the new iPad mini will be announced later this year. The news about the delivery of mini LED-related screen parts in the third quarter of 2021 seems to be in line with this.
A mini LED iPad mini is therefore certainly not a crazy idea. Apple reportedly has plans to slowly bring screen technology to more products. The MacBook Pro is also likely to get a mini LED screen in 2022.
