Apple surprised everyone at the beginning of this year with the launch of the HomePod 2023. The new speaker is the successor to the first-generation HomePod, which was released in 2018. The new HomePod has only just gone on sale, but Apple is already working on a successor, according to new rumors.

Where the HomePod 2023 was almost identical to its predecessor in terms of design, the new HomePod has a completely renewed design. According to various rumors, the smart speaker will have a screen!

HomePod 2024 comes with a screen

So Apple plans to add a display to the new generation of HomePod. The HomePod 2024 then becomes a kind of combination of a speaker and an iPad, which is mainly intended for use at home. According to rumors, this Homepod will have a 7-inch screen, making it slightly smaller than the 8-inch screen of the current iPad mini.

The HomePod with display should combine the iPad, Apple TV and the HomePod in one device. The new speaker thus becomes the central point of your home, with which you can also operate all your smart devices. In this way, Apple wants to compete with devices such as the Google Nest Hub or Amazon’s Echo Show.

HomePod with display will be released early next year

The launch of the second-generation HomePod came only five years after the release of the first HomePod, but the third-generation HomePod is not expected to be that long. According to the usually reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new speaker will appear early next year. The speaker may then be available for sale in the spring of 2024.

The price of the new HomePod is especially interesting, because the current HomePod – just like the original HomePod – is on the pricey side. The speaker costs no less than € 349 and it is to be expected that this price will only increase by adding a display. How high the price will actually be, of course, remains to be seen.
