‘New, cheaper iPhone with Touch ID and 6.7-inch screen in 2022’

According to a new rumor, Apple will release five new iPhones in 2022, including a cheaper model with a 6.7-inch screen and a Touch ID sensor below the screen. Apple will also announce a brand new iPhone SE in the first half of the year.

Kuo: Touch ID will return to iPhone in 2022

Trusted Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently released its expectations for the iPhone lineup in 2022. According to Kuo Apple will announce two cheaper 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhones next year. Both models will be priced below 1000 euros. Apple also gives its more expensive 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Pro iPhones a major upgrade.

Apple will no longer announce a mini-iPhone in 2022, according to the analyst’s statements. This is probably due to disappointing iPhone 12 mini sales. We can still expect a mini version of the iPhone 13.

Kuo stresses that the 2022 iPhone range could get Touch ID under the screen. So we don’t have to expect the technology in the iPhone 13, which is expected at the end of 2021. However, the iPhone 13 will receive Kuo some ‘impressive features’. It is not known what features he is talking about.

In addition to the return of Touch ID, a major camera upgrade is mentioned in the list of expectations. The main camera is expected to have a resolution of 48 megapixels. For comparison; the current iPhone 12 series has ‘only’ a 12 megapixel camera.

Also new iPhone SE with 5G and better processor in 2022

Kuo predicted a few months ago that the new iPhone SE would be released in the first quarter of 2022. He now confirms this. The new iPhone SE will reportedly have a similar design to the existing 4.7-inch iPhone SE. The new iPhone SE does get 5G support and a faster processor.

A new design is yet to come. The home button also lives on for a while. In 2023, according to another rumor, the iPhone SE will have a front-filling screen with a camera hole instead of a notch.
