‘Mysterious little Google Pixel phone in development’
A smaller Pixel smartphone is in the works. One with high-end specs and a small design. This is according to new leaks from the Chinese rumor spreader Digital Chat Station. It is not known when we can expect the phone.
Smaller Pixel Phone
Small phone fans and Pixel 5 owners will be thrilled at this news. According to a Digital Chat Station post on Chinese social media, the smaller Pixel phone is codenamed “Neila.” In terms of design, it will be very similar to the Pixel 6 and 7 series, but it will be smaller in size. The rumor propagator does not say what its dimensions will be.
It is also unknown what this phone will be called. It may be a variant of the Pixel 7 series or already the Pixel 8. Nothing is known about the launch date, but it is expected that Google will not introduce it on October 6 together with the Pixel 7 series. Take this rumor with a grain of salt for now, because for now the information comes from only one source.
Surprising ASUS Zenfone 9
At the moment, small flagship phones – by which we mean devices with a screen smaller than 6 inches – are quite rare. The ASUS Zenfone 9 is one, and it surprised us enormously, as you can read in our review. ASUS has been claiming since the Zenfone 8 that there is indeed a demand for smaller, yet powerful smartphones. This was also confirmed by the petition of Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble. He called on smartphone brands to design small high-end phones, or else he would start such a project himself.
A lot of Google products have already been discovered this week that are in full development. We also wrote about the Pixel Pro tablet on Wednesday and a new Nest doorbell is also on the way. Do you like smaller high-end phones? Let us know in the comments.
