Musk counterattacks ChatGPT
As is well known, the well-known African-American feels rather annoyed by the unsophisticated way in which Microsoft and Sam Altman have turned the not-for-profit OpenAI into a private company. After strong criticism, there will now also be its own advanced AI under Twitter.
Musk is deploying thousands of graphics processors
Elon Musk previously recruited a team to develop an AI himself. It is now known that the multi-billionaire has also ordered thousands of graphics processors to build a huge server park. This will be done under the banner of Twitter.
The use of graphics cards is very popular within the world of artificial intelligence because their hardware architecture is ideal for simulating neural networks. This is also the reason why, for example, NVIDIA, once a struggling company that occasionally sold a graphics card, has now grown into a company that can compete in size with giants such as AMD and Intel.
“Non-woke” AI
A major reason for Musk’s anger lies in the filters imposed on GPT-3.5 and GPT-4. These are rather progressive-left. Controversial topics, such as LBGTI+ issues and religion, are soon dominated by various security filters that reflect the prevailing, according to critics, rather twisted political morality in California.
The AI also clearly takes sides. American and Dutch research, in which a student had the AI fill in a voting guide, showed that in terms of voting advice, the AI is somewhere between GroenLinks, D66 and the SP. These political views are quite different from those of Musk, a pretty right-wing rascal who abhors “woke”. So also for this reason he feels caught. He has the feeling that his donated money is being used for politics that he does not support. He now wants to develop an AI that is not controlled by “woke” ideas.
Moderation AI
Musk has a huge problem with Twitter. He has fired almost all moderators, causing the European Union, for example, to threaten to block Twitter in Europe and impose a high fine. In principle, this problem can be solved by letting an artificial intelligence take over the moderation. Musk has spoken in this direction before.
If Musk can pull this off, he will save billions a year in personnel costs. He is also not dependent on the quirks of human moderators, which he hates. The wine taps and other typical Twitter paraphernalia will therefore not return to the social network for the time being.
